Have Another Slice of ‘Cake’ on September 30

Cake is a handcrafted assortment of bite-sized shorts carefully curated and served up as a tasty treat for the mind. Featuring a diverse array of narratives from storytellers both new and established, featured films are equal parts thought-provoking, laugh-inducing, artistic, authentic, and raw. (Not to mention, totally gif-able!).
Each of Season 5’s 10 episodes features Reza Farazmand’s Poorly Drawn Lines, an animated short series spotlighting the fantastical misadventures of Ernesto (Tony Revolori), Tanya (D’Arcy Carden) and Kevin (Ron Funches)—three twenty-something best friends navigating early adulthood in a world where the strange and surreal are an everyday thing. Based off the comic of the same name, Poorly Drawn Lines is produced by Floyd County Productions and Fish Ladder Productions.
The only thing better then a slice of cake is yet another slice of cake, and Cake fans will soon splurge on another delicious helping when FXX’s half-hour weekly showcase returns with Season 5 on Thursday, September 30. Produced by FX Productions, the series features live-action and animated comedy shorts with new segments available to FX subscribers through FXNOW, with next day streaming via FX on Hulu.

Also prominently featured this season is Branson Reese’s Swan Boy, an animated short based off the comic of the same name from executive producers Alex Plapinger and Augenblick Studios. Swan Boy focuses on an anthropomorphic 20-something swan of low station and (in his finest moments) medium intelligence, who gets into trouble ranging from the mundane to the fantastic to the surreal.
Season 5 will also feature animated Beings from creator Dan Britt and executive producer Alex Plapinger; live-action The Dream starring Gary Richardson (Saturday Night Live) and Ana Fabrega (Los Espookys), from creators Alan Resnick, Dina Kelberman and Robby Rackleff, plus executive producer Plapinger; and live-action Words with Ike from executive producers Ikechukwu Ufomadu and Graham Mason.
