Ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl matchup, Paramount Pictures shared an early look at its latest spot for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Entitled “Big Game Spot,” the new trailer features Sonic and Knuckles as they vie for control over an all-powerful emerald.
Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, is the latest foil to Sonic (Ben Schwartz) and his sidekick Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) — a partner-in-crime to the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), who seeks the chaos emerald in his quest to topple civilization. In this new footage, Sonic and Knuckles go head-to-head in some kinetic, candy-colored moments of action, building to the reveal of Robotnik’s rocket-launching mech suit. We also get glimpses of Sonic snowboarding on frosty slopes, and riding atop Tails’ red and white biplane — a fan-favorite piece of Sonic franchise iconography that now makes it feature film debut.
