HBO Max is perhaps showing early signs of animation deterioration in a post-Discovery merger world, with only two animated premieres scheduled for the next month. Offerings from most of the other major platforms are equally uninspired in September, but hopefully that’s just because several haven’t nailed down and released their full schedules yet and we’ll see additions in the coming days and weeks.

Hulu has a glut of animation on the way next month, as Fox’s Animation Domination block returns for a new season. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and The Great North will all kick off new seasons on Hulu on September 26. Even more exciting though, the platform is also getting several prestige animation titles from abroad in Oscar nominees Ernest & Celestine and The Pirates! Band Of Misfits, as well as former Annecy competition players Lupin III: The First and White Snake. Here’s hoping those additions are indicative of a Hulu plan to bulk up and diversify its feature animation catalog.
