Production on Marvel Studios’ Echo has begun in Atlanta, and Disney has shared a first-look image from the upcoming MCU series.
Episodes of Echo are directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai). Kevin Feige; Louis D’Esposito; Victoria Alonso; Brad Winderbaum; Stephen Broussard; Richie Palmer; Marion Dayre; and Jason Gavin (Blackfeet) serve as executive producers, alongside Amy Rardin; Sydney Freeland; Christina King (Seminole); and Jennifer Booth.
Here’s the official synopsis for Echo:
Cast members joining Cox include Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian, The English); Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon, Stumptown); Devery Jacobs (FX’s Reservation Dogs, American Gods); Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!, Four Sheets to the Wind); Graham Greene (1883, Goliath); and Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, FX’s Reservation Dogs).
“The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.”

Echo stars Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, who first appeared in 2021’s Hawkeye as a deaf gang leader and the first Native American hero in the MCU. Her saga will continue in the new series, which streams exclusively on Disney+ in 2023. The studio first teased the character with an impressive piece of concept art back in March 2021.
