Classic anime series Trigun will be back in 2023 in the form of a new show at Crunchyroll titled Trigun Stampede.
- Crunchyroll will handle global distribution of the series and plans to simulcast the show from Japan in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide next year.
- The new series will be produced by Orange (Beastars) and Toho (Shin Godzilla, Shin Ultraman), and features a new crew and voice cast. Orange specializes in cg animation, so it seems likely this show will see an aesthetic departure from the 2d original.
- Crunchyroll is planning to share new info during its July 2 panel at Anime Expo 2022 in Los Angeles. There, creator and writer Yasuhiro Nightow and the show’s producers will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the show, currently in production.
- Other panelists slated to appear at Anime Expo include Kouji Tajima (designer), Kiyotaka Waki (producer, Orange), Yoshihiro Watanabe (producer, Orange), and Katsuhiro Takei (producer, Toho).
- The original series is based on the popular action manga series of the same name by Nightow, and turns on Vash the Stampede, a legendary gunman-turned-pacifist with a robotic arm and a bounty on his head. The original series launched in 1998 and received a feature film adaptation in 2010 titled Trigun: Badlands Rumble.
