The pair’s tools on the project included Autodesk Maya, Adobe Substance 3D Painter, Marmoset Toolbag, Quixel Megascans, Unreal Engine 5, and Maxon’s ZBrush.
The NVIDIA Studio blog has just showcased scenes from Cold Inside Diorama by 3D artists Gianluca Squillace and Pasquale Scionti. The project, which was powered by RTX GPUs and built collaboratively within NVIDIA Omniverse, combined the artists’ individual styles to create a moody Viking scene that was made easier by working with Omniverse and the Universal Scene Description (USD) file format.

To wrap up the project, the duo then brought Squillace’s character into Scionti’s Unreal Engine scene to integrate the character into the snowy environment- using NVIDIA Omniverse and accelerated by their GeForce RTX GPUs.

Squillace took advantage of working with USD by importing files into Marmoset Toolbag for character-only renders while Scionti built the snowy environment using Omniverise’s collaboration capabilities and USD files; the combination made it possible for him to integrate files with Squillace and view edits in real-time.
