Boat Rocker to Develop ‘Bad Kitty’ Animated Series

Independent entertainment company Boat Rocker has landed the rights to develop an animated television series based on the popular Bad Kitty children’s book series from author Nick Bruel.
Boat Rocker has recently worked on an increasing number of kids and family series, including Disney’s Dino Ranch; Netflix’s Daniel Spellbound; CBBC, iPlayer, YTV, and HBO Max’s The Next Step; and Apple TV+’s Amber Brown. The company is now in development on Stuffed — an animated series based on Erik McCurdy’s comic strip about the adventures of a young girl and her motley crew of plush toys.
“I’m horribly allergic to cats, but turns out what Nick created with Bad Kitty – a series beloved by millions of fans around the world for its humor and accessible storytelling – is the perfect remedy,” joked Bob Higgins, EVP content, Boat Rocker Studios, Kids & Family, in a statement.

Since its release in 2005, the Bad Kitty series has become a New York Times best-seller to the tune of over 20 million copies sold, and has been published in 23 languages across dozens of territories internationally. The stories center around a mischievous housecat named Kitty who has a unique knack for creating chaos throughout her owner’s home.
