SURPRISE. Tomorrow we premiere THE UNICORN WARS VIDEO GAMES.
Unicorn Wars is a 2d side-scroller which lets you play as a cuddly little bear soldier who wanders through an enchanted forest slaying unicorns in a religious war. The game features semi-procedural phases that will make each playthrough a unique experience. Users must collect five medals on each map to unlock the next part of the story.
For now, the game is only available on the Google store, but over the next couple of weeks it will also be released on the Apple Store and in several other languages: English, French, Basque, and Galician.
“We were always clear that both the art style and the animation fit perfectly in a specific type of game,” Unicorn Wars producer Iván Miñambres told Cartoon Brew.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Uniko announced the game, saying:
Get your favorite weapon and eliminate those damn unicorns from the earth. It all depends on you, little bear!
Unicorn Wars the film might not hit theaters in North America until sometime early next year, but those looking to dive into the world created by Vázquez (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children) can now do so on their phones and PCs.
It will be available on Android and PC COMPLETELY FREE. Do you feel like killing unicorns? 🦄
The game’s art style matches closely that of the film, with loads of neon pinks, greens, and yellows coloring a forest backdrop which runs red with the blood of the unicorns. It was produced by DEP Games and directed by Camilo López Rey with Diego Vázquez and Antón Blanco adapting Vázquez’s work to the video game format.
Uniko, producers of Alberto Vázquez’s Unicorn Wars, just shadow-dropped a free video game accompaniment to the film on Android and PC.
