Production I.G to Adapt ‘Heavenly Delusion’ Manga

The official “Heavenly Delusion” (“Tengoku Daimakyou”) website revealed that Production I.G, the animation studio behind Ghost in the Shell and PSYCHO-PASS, will produce the upcoming anime series adaptation of Masakazu Ishiguro’s award-winning action-adventure manga, along with a teaser visual. The series is set to debut in 2023.
The manga series takes place 15 years after the world collapsed due to an unprecedented catastrophe.  In what was once Japan, strange and dangerous supernatural beings roam the land, forcing people to live close together.  Maru, with the aid of Kiruko, set out to find a place called heaven, where children are raised in a nursery-style setting by robots. 

Ishiguro released an original illustration to commemorate the adaptation of his manga, along with the statement, “Actually, I thought that anime was the best way to depict the desolate beauty and despair of the ruined everyday scenery.  However, since I am a manga artist, I was struggling with black and white still images, but I never thought that an animation project would start. I can’t wait to see what kind of journey Kirko and Maru will have when they are brought to life from the anime.”
